74. pastrami

My husband and I had dinner here last night. He had the cornbeef and I had the pastrami. We also each had a bowl of soup, me matzo ball and him mushroom barley. Everything was wonderful. The service was excellent, very pleasant and attentive. The portions were large (I took home some of my soup). We moved to Palm Springs from Long island NY just before the pandemic. We had no idea this restaurant existed until last night. We've been to a kosher deli in downtown and found it way over priced with disappointing food. It didn't compare to NY (our favorite is Katz's}. However, Manhattan In The Desert was so much better than that other PS restaurant. Starting with the pickles served when we walked in, to the meal, to the desert we grabbed when we walked out. We will be back to try all the delicious food on their extensive menu. We really want to try breakfast, too. We're so glad we found this place.

Amazing combination, sandwich is delicious and of course more than ample amounts of meat to enjoy. Excellent sandwich to split and then have cup of soup

Monte Cristo Sandwich

I'd be a liar if I stopped at the Monte Cristo. The dogs and I were suffering from cabin fever. I looked at several websites to see what was out there. I'd heard of MID, all of it good, but with other options I was wary of trying something "new". Then like an angel coming down from the clouds I saw it. A real Monte Cristo, Something from my youth that would if made correctly would restore my youth. Temp at the front door, and strict adherence to safety were the first good sign. Friendly staff who pampered me and the dogs, always a good sign. My Monte Cristo was beyond what I could have hoped for, making the sandwiches of my youth pale, more meat and cheese than I have ever seen, fresh and delightful. Fries were nicely done. The dogs too loved their chicken breast, chopped into bite sized treats. What was more spectacular is as it was my first visit ever, they were able to bring a little plate with samples of the different meats on the menu, pastrami, lean and like my NYC memories, Corned Beef that would make St. Patrick convert to a NY Deli-brucher. Roast beef and Brisket... Well all I can say is with just the single slice samples I requested, I'll be back with or without the dogs (depending on the desert temps.) Oh no I won't forget the matzoh ball soup. My mother made sinkers, Matzoh balls so dense and chewy they would sink to the bottom, my aunt used the Katz Deli approach, and hers were so soft they would fall apart, MID Matzoballs have are in between. Just as Goldilocks found the porridge that was just right. The Matzoballs are just what they should be. Solid bites but light and tasty. Something most cooks can't accomplish. (Sorry Mamma)

Roasted chicken

This roasted chicken was tasty and the veggies were grilled to perfection. The liver was okay but not the best so I wouldn't order that again. Chicken fingers were lighted breaded and the kids loved them.
